house A (construction record)
Construction records of house A
Total redesign + gut renovation for a small apartment with a big garden, v close to Acropolis, Athens.
With a good study and a careful supervision on the construction, this tiny space is turned into a spacious fully equipped house.
apartment and garden – previous condition, 4 rooms and a corridor in 32 sq.m!
my idea is to free all space from unnecessary walls , design build-in functions to create free space.
scroll down for some photographs taken through the construction, from day one.
The opening to the garden gives the apartment a great view advantage, but the opposite wall has 2 small dark windows looking into a shaft..
Increasing the size of the windows to create the illusion of a big window is inevitable
finally 2 big windows created on the gloomy shaft wall
Enriching the existing soil w/new, after the drainage system, with was not an easy job in the center of Athens!
gardening + recycling the 60′s sink from old house kitchen for the BBQ
After few unattractive but necessary infrastructural works a new phase begins and the studio looks less like a skeleton.
The bamboo floor -bellow covered for protection- looks perfect with the aluminium Schuco frames and the metal Zehnder radiators:}
fitting the open kitchen cupboards, electrical appliances and lights, using all available space is critical :} sms 4 wife too
a careful fitting of the wardrobe and desk furniture, with the handcraft curves, again creating storage on every available space.
following is a floor plan of the less than three square meters of bathroom area, created where the old corridor was.
looks so simple, but actually was a design riddle for many structural reasons too long to mention here..
the bathroom has also access to the storage area created above the new corridor.
the solution of an in tow glass divider for the bathroom wall was essential due to limited space
the final result of the LED lighting inside the the glass wall
finally i get to see some results… time 4 the painters again…
good things come to those who wait:}
almost done… proper photos coming soon...
